Art Wolfe in Minneapolis

Well known nature and landscape photographer Art Wolfe is coming to Minnesota for a lecture series on June 25, 2011. He will give 6 lectures on a variety of topics on that date from his vast experience as an photographer and traveler for the past 36 years.

Lightroom Webinar

A webinar is a short online seminar produced to cover a particular subject in a brief and informative manner. A free two session webinar on Lightroom is being offered on Thursday March 3rd by X-rite Photo. The topics covered are Lightroom file structure, order and prioritizing and color set up.

Rod Planck Seminar in Wisconsin

Rod Planck is an internationally known photographer who lives in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. He has published many images, written books and taught workshops throughout the United States. The Wisconsin Area Camera Club Organization is proud to announce Rod is conducting a one day seminar in Brookfield, Wisconsin on March 19th. Although the seminar location is near Milwaukee, it is also near Lake Michigan and a lot of fines areas for photography. Attend this seminar and shooting the surrounding areas of Wisconsin would make a great weekend.

Call for Entries

The Center for Fine Art Photography in Fort Collins, Colorado has been consistently prompting photography through exhibitions and education for sometime. It recently announced calls for images for two upcoming exhibitions. The first "Center Forward" has a deadline of February 23rd. Although the name maybe a little confusing, it is actually a call for open entries of any type. The second is titled "Black and White" and it has a deadline for entries of April 23rd. Both exhibitions are open to professional and amateur photographers worldwide.

Camera Equipment Reviews

There is an excellent website that provides reviews of new cameras, lenses, accessories and software. The reviews are very detailed and thorough. It is called DPreview.

This site has up to date information about all the new cameras and gear, and can get you up to speed on all of the latest and greatest equipment as it is announced by manufacturers. The site contains a buying guide to aid in your purchase decisions. It also contains lots of galleries of images submitted by members of the site.

Check it out it's a really worthwhile site.

McKnight Foundation Artist Grants

The McKnight foundation award grants of $25,000.00 each year to 4 photographers to explore, study and reflect on their photography. Details of the grants are contained in the informational notice below. Note that a "Tech session" that will give more details on how to prepare and submit an application for a grant will be held at the Minneapolis Photo Center on February 17th at 6:30 pm.

Learn Lightroom 3

Rikk Flohr has been presenting small group seminars on one of his favorite subjects Lightroom 3. These seminars are offered to groups of 3 or more, can be scheduled at your location of choice and are only $12hr per person. The seminars can be tailored for the novice, intermediate or advanced users, and Rikk also offers special education on what he terms "geeky" Lightroom tricks and techniques.
