Our friend Alec Johnson of AC Johnson Photography writes a blog that contains a lot of valuable insight into the craft of image making. He recently posted an article and images on HDR that was quite interesting. He discusses the prevalent use of HDR by photographers who often use the process simply for the sake of creating something new and different. We've all seen those highly graphic images with strange color hues and wild lighting effects in what would otherwise be a commonplace subject. They can be exciting at first to look at. But Alec makes the case for using HDR as a compliment to good photography and not as a substitute for it.
