Event Photography
Our good friend and professional photographer Alec Johnson recently posted an item on his blog about photographing events. It includes examples of photographs he took at a local rodeo and music festival. He makes some good points about shooting events that are worth reviewing.

Quality Lenses Never Die
A interesting article was published in a recent online post about a photographer who came into possession of a 102 year old lens and has started to put it to use. Click on the images below for a larger view:
Maybe this ends once and for all the debate over whether you should spend your hard earned money on a new camera, or a high quality lens?

TIME LAPSE HD VIDEO
Many of the newest digital cameras feature HD video capability. This gives photographers another creative tool to explore. One amazing use is to shoot time-lapse videos.
You Tube features a time lapse HD channel that contains some excellent examples of this creative art form. Go to the You Tube channel to view time lapse videos of the Grand Canyon, Las Vegas and a forest fire, among others. Make sure you view the time lapse sequence of Vancouver City that shows fog rolling into and out of that city.
As the capabilities of digital cameras increase it's likely that we'll see many more creative video techniques in addition to time lapse productions.

FALL COLORS
Its that time of year to prepare for the coming of fall colors. The Minneapolis StarTribune recently published an article that may help you find the fall color you desire.
Go to: http://www.startribune.com/lifestyle/travel/102650969.html?page=1&c=y
to view the article, learn how leaves turn colors and see a map of where and when the fall colors are expected to appear.
You can also get information about the best locations to photograph fall color at the department of natural resources website located here: http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/fall_colors/index.html or the Explore Minnesota website at: http://www.exploreminnesota.com/fall-color-reports.
According to each of these resources we have a few weeks to go before they start changing up North and heading this way, but it pays to watch these sites and be prepared.
