The Flash Tour

THE FLASH TOUR

Demonstrating the speed of light while rolling across the country at the speed of a moving bus, the world's two leading educators and innovators in the big world of small flash, David "The Strobist" Hobby and Joe "Numnuts" McNally team up for the FLASHBUS 2011 TOUR.

Hobby and McNally kick off this small flash fest on March 11th in Seattle, and then head down the West Coast and across the country teaching, demonstrating, lighting and debating about speed lights. Shoot manual? Check! Wanna try TTL? Gotcha covered! 29 cities, 13,000 miles, rolling, flashing, tweeting from San Diego to Boston, Atlanta to LA, Memphis to Denver, and lots of stops in between.

Two different styles of lighting and two different ways of teaching combine as Hobby and McNally join forces to explore and explain good light — good light done fast and well.

Hobby and morning coffee! David runs the morning session, and then gives way to McNally and lots of lights in the afternoon. They come together onstage at the end of the day in a free-wheeling Q&A--no holds barred.

The Flashbus 2011 Tour is coming to a venue near you!

So you're considering an African Adventure?

Africa the dark continent is large, diverse, mysterious and accessible to photographers who sign up for a photo workshop with an experienced photographer. One such workshop is offered by Jansen Photographic Expeditions in Tanzania with a side trip to the spice island of Zanzibar. (Click on the images below for a larger view).

Mark Jansen is a professional photographer who has offered workshops primarily in and around the Sierra Mountain area of California. He is considering putting together an African adventure for interested photographers. To get more information about this adventure, or his offerings in California go to his website Jansen Photo Expeditions.

You may also consider going to Africa with experienced local photographer Mark Lissick who is well known to camera club members. He has offered workshops at various locations in Africa for many years. This year he has one scheduled for Tanzania from February 25 - March 7. (Click on images below for more details).

Mark is also planning another trip to Tanzania in February 2012 and one in Zambia in August-September 2012. Its never too early to plan for an African safari. You can view a listing of all of the workshops at Mark's website.

Alex Johnson workshops

Our good friend, presenter and judge for man of our clubs has announced he is putting on two workshops this year. The first is in the badlands of South Dakota in June, and the second is his spectacular workshop on the North Shore in August (I personally attended this one and can highly recommend it). You can view the particulars on his website acjohnson Photography and then click on "location workshops". You can also sign up to follow his blog from a link on this site.
