Saturday Speaker - Jeff Morgan
About Jeff Morgan
As a photographer with over 30 years of experience, Jeff's
knowledge base encompasses film and digital technology. He was an early adopter
of digital photography tools, and he first started using Photoshop Version 2 in
the early 1990's, so he has a lot of photographic expertise to share. His
commitment to the craft pushes him to remain on the cutting edge utilizing a
wide range of tools and techniques to keep his skills and creative eye
sharp. Jeff started his photography company, Elm Studio, in 2002 and
initially focused on architectural and location photography. He employs a range
of creative technologies, such as high dynamic range imaging, light painting,
low light, infrared and panoramas, to produce compelling work. His images and
articles have been published extensively in PhotoPlus Magazine and have also
appeared in Practical Photoshop, Digital Camera, TechRadar and other
publications in Europe, USA and China. Over the past ten years he has shared
his knowledge through a series of photographic workshops in USA, UK, France,
China and Costa Rica. He has provided workshops for The Photographic Society of
America, The Royal Photographic Society and The New York Institute of
Photography. He really enjoys helping other photographers, and would be pleased
to support your learning through his small group workshops.
Program: Total Fitness Workout
Are you stuck in a rut with your photography? Would you like
to get some ideas about how to improve your image-making skills? We will
look at some exercises you can practice that will expand your creativity and
strengthen your repertoire of skills. Learn some techniques and
procedures that will enable you to quickly improve your pictures and
communicate with more visual impact. This presentation will cover two sets of
exercises: the first one is designed to help you increase your compositional
and aesthetic skills, and the second one will cover the technical controls you should
incorporate into your artistic vision. A true artist not only sees but is also
a master of their craft. Come and energize your creative side!
Program: Field Photography
How to plan and accomplish a successful location shoot. This is
practical discussion and demonstration on how one goes about planning and
auctioning a creative photography outing. We look at the research I do before a
shoot, continuing on with the equipment and its use during the shoot. Then we
will look at how I set about to shoot images, the settings I have used and how
the images are produced. At the start of the session I will show some of my
work with discussion on how it was captured. What do you really need to use for
a great image? Is it better to use filters or not? Do your images lack quality,
sharpness or good color; we will study and discuss good practical field craft
for high quality photography. Your questions and participation will be warmly
welcomed. Break out of your bounds and try some new techniques and equipment.
Sunday Speaker - Ian Plant
About Ian Plant

Ian Plant is a frequent contributor to and blogger for Outdoor Photographer
Magazine, a Contributing Editor to Popular Photography Magazine, a monthly

also the author of numerous books and instructional videos. Ian leads
photography workshops and tours around the world to help beginner and advanced
photographers explore and expand their personal vision. His personal
photographic project, Dreamscapes, moves beyond the literal and transforms
subjects into something unexpected, bridging the line between the real and
surreal. Ian relies on long exposures, unique lighting conditions,
non-traditional perspectives, and special natural events to show his subjects
in a new light. Ian travels the world, seeking out the hidden spaces in between
the familiar, in his never-ending quest to inspire, entertain, and educate
others in the art of photography. You can see his work at http://www.ianplant.com
Program: (Un)Seeing: The Art of Photography
Famous photographer Minor
White once said: “One should not only photograph things for what they are but
for what else they are.” Artistic abstraction—learning to see visual elements
“for what else they are”—is the key to sharpening your creative vision.
Learning to think abstractly is the single most important thing you can do to
improve your artistic skills, and it will allow you to see creative
possibilities that you otherwise would miss. World famous photographer Ian
Plant will share his personal insights on learning to see the world with
different eyes through composition, moment, and creative use of light, sharing
dozens of his best landscape, wildlife, and travel photos from around the
world.
