Adobe "Death of the Boxed Software" - a must read for Photoshop users (updated)

UPDATE: Costs and terms  -  The prices appear to be higher than the what is listed below. I think that anyone making the decision to stay or go must be very aware of the rules/requirements and decide carefully.

Note that the 'Cloud' agreement you approve to use the software also says "Adobe has all ownership and even on the files you place on their cloud space to use for promotional material for free." - per one commentator. Good to know.

  ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Adobe killed perpetual licenses of almost all of its creative software. Creative Cloud is the future. The only future. Sure, you can still buy CS6 licenses, and you will own those in perpetuity. Although, you won’t get the whiz-bang new features for CS6. Ever."

The whole suite will cost $50/mo, which is $600/yr - each and every year. Photoshop will cost $20/mo, which is $240/yr - each and every year. And these amounts can be raised, of course, as Adobe's wishes. So, instead of the $200 for each upgrade, which happened about every 18 months, if you chose to upgrade every time (remember when it was $140/upgrade?), you get to pay $240 each year, assuming the price does not go up, of course.

And, if you stop subscribing, "(t)he achilles heel of Creative Cloud is here. When you unsubscribe to Creative Cloud, you lose the ability to access your work or create further work." (italics mine) Hello?!! Houston, I think we have a problem.....
