A MINNESOTA PHOTOGRAPHIC LANDMARK HAS FALLEN

The scenic Tettegouche Arch on Lake Superior has fallen according to news reports. The surefire photo opportunity for countless numbers of photographers and other visitors to the North Shore collapsed into Lake Superior at some point over the weekend. It had suffered the effects of thousands of years of erosion. There was no foul weather reported over the weekend in the area that could have been a contributing factor.

Images of the aftermath may have some historical value, but the real significance of the arch were all the images taken while it was still standing. Fortunately, Rikk Flohr had a few breathtaking before-images of the arch to share below:
