Quality Lenses Never Die

A interesting article was published in a recent online post about a photographer who came into possession of a 102 year old lens and has started to put it to use. Click on the images below for a larger view:

Maybe this ends once and for all the debate over whether you should spend your hard earned money on a new camera, or a high quality lens?

While historical, this old lens is hardly high quality. As the article notes, the result is more like output from a Holga. It took a very experienced technician to design and create the camera adapter for this lens. The debate shouldn't be about whether to invest in a new camera or a high quality lens but rather how to learn how to be more creative with light (e.g. buy and use a Holga ...)
